What if I’m out of shape? Do I need to get in shape first?

That’s okay! We meet people where they are, right now. Any movement in any workout is modifiable to any ability level. We’ll be there every step of the way.

I don’t want to look too bulky.

No worries! In order to look like a bodybuilder, one must eat like a bodybuilder (a lot). The workouts themselves will actually help you lose fat and tone your body. If you need help, speak to our in-house nutrition expert!

I actually want to gain muscle! Can CrossFit help me?

Of course! The gym’s owners actually started CrossFit for this very reason. Supported by a diet designed to help them bulk up, they were both able to gain over 30 pounds of lean mass. If this is your goal, sit down with our in-house nutrition coach!

I have an old injury that bothers me. Can I still do CrossFit?

Yep! Our coaches all have years of experience working with people’s trick knees, weak backs, and bad shoulders. We often find that through careful and consistent efforts, these problems can even resolve themselves.

I just want to make sure I’m doing everything right.

At CrossFit Nexus, we intentionally cap our regular classes at 12 people to ensure that everyone receives one-on-one coaching and attention in every class. We also start everyone out with personal training before group classes to help you learn the ropes.

I already know how to lift, do I still have to start with Foundations?

Have you been regularly squatting, deadlifting and pressing? How about snatching and cleaning barbells and dumbbells? We have established movement standards that you must meet in order to gain entry to our regular group classes. If you are competent at performing basic gymnastics movements, the power and Olympic lifts, and are already fit, you may be a candidate for jumping right into regular classes. Why is CrossFit more expensive than other gyms?

At first glance we are more expensive expensive than your typical gym, places like Planet Fitness, the community center, or a 24-hour gym. There a couple different reasons for this and it’s helpful to understand why.

Typical gyms sell cheap memberships and they sell a lot of them. Their business model is based on the fact that most people rarely use a cheap gym membership so they can sell thousands of memberships at $30/month but only see a small percentage of those members using the facility.

Nexus cares about your health and fitness. We succeed when our members succeed. We don’t want to and can’t sell hundreds of memberships because it’s impossible to run classes with hundreds of people in them.

Nexus offers small group classes where you get many of the benefits of a personal trainer at a fraction of the price.
