The 4 keys to success we discussed are consistency, intensity, recovery and nutrition. There is a reason consistency is first. As Tony Robbins says, “it’s not what we do once in awhile that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently.” If you attend a workout every once in a while, is training part of your lifestyle? If you eat healthy occasionally, is healthy eating part of your lifestyle? In both cases the answer is no. If you only do things occasionally or when it fits into your schedule then you aren’t doing it consistently.
What do you want to achieve? What’s your goal? What brings you through our door? No matter what your answer is, consistency will help. If you want to build muscle, lose weight, reach new performance goals; all of these are achievable with consistency. Let’s use the example of weight loss. If you want to lose weight, then we need to consistently work at it. What are you doing today that will help you lose weight? Are you making time to get to the gym? Are you making healthy eating a priority? “If we want to direct our lives, we must take control of our consistent actions.” Tony Robbins again. Your consistent actions, your daily habits, are what will get you to your goal. If you want to have control of your life, if you want to achieve your goals, you must first take control of your daily habits.
Now these habits could be anything. Maybe we need to work on getting more sleep so that we can wake up for early workouts. Maybe we need to set a reminder to tell us to get up from our desk and walk around so that we don’t sit for 4 hours straight. Maybe we start working on mindfully eating, slowing down our eating habits to make it harder to overeat. No matter the habit, no matter the goal. If we consistently make time, if we consistently work on it, we can attain the results we want.
Your training, nutrition and recovery all needs to be a priority in your life. You are busy. We all are. Everyone makes sacrifices to make time for what is important to them. If you haven’t yet, it’s time to make your health a priority. No matter what you want out of life, living health conscious will help you enjoy it more fully.
